The History of Recipes
It is actually possible to track the history of recipes way back into the distant past, at least as far back into history as ancient Egypt, and possibly even further. However, in the main part, these ancient records were just very simple hieroglyphic recipes for preparing meals.
Moving on, there are some recipe books which date from the 1300s - a recipe book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these two books are not about the curry that is familiar to us all today, but rather recipes for the types of food prepared for the rich and wealthy people of the time. Later, in the 15th century, the Crusaders brought back many spices and herbs from the East, such as coriander, parsley, and rosemary. These new herbs and spices led to an increase in manuscripts on food, most of which are now in private libraries. The revolution that is television brought us TV cookery programs and the recipe books that accompanied them. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing everybody to access massive numbers of recipes like the ones you can find on our site. |
We hope you enjoy this Banana Bread (Crocker) recipe.
