The History of Recipes
It is possible to follow the history of written recipes far back into distant history, in fact as far back as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and potentially, even further back. In practice though, sadly, these old recipes were just simple hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for food preparation.
Progressing into The time of the roman empire 25BC a roman called Apicius wrote a few documents showing how to cook the recipes cooked by the Romans. In his publication, he tells us how the meals were divided into hors d`oeuvre, entrees and dessert, known in latin as `Gustatio, Primae Mensae and Secundae Mensae`. This early Roman chef describes how the ancient Romans were skilled in the use of a wide range of herbs, including a few you will know like bay, fennel and dill. Later on in the 1400s, people returning from the crusades brought back a variety of foods and spices from middle-east cuisine, including spices like coriander, parsley, and rosemary. The introduction of these new tastes caused a surge in manuscripts on food, the majority of which are now in academic collections. The introduction of the TV gave us TV chefs and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the internet revolution, permitting everyone to access massive numbers of recipes just like those on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Animal Pull Toys recipe.
