Apple Crunch Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup whole bran cereal
1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 package regular butterscotch pudding mix, 4, oz pkg.
1 1/4 cup milk
22 oz apple pie filling
1 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
2 tbsp lemon juice


Directions

Mix oats, cereal, flour, sugar, soda and spices. Cut in butter or
margarine until crumbly. Pat half the mixture into a 8x8x2 inch
baking dish. Bake in 350~ oven 10 minutes. Prepare pudding mix
according to package directions except use the 1 1/2 cups milk. Pour
over crumb layer. Mix remaining ingredients; spoon over pudding. Top
with remaining crumbs. Bake, uncovered, in 350~ oven 30 to 35
minutes. Serve warm or cool with ice cream, if desired.

By the time we get to the 20th century, cooking books are in high demand, as a result of more people being able to read, people having more spare time and having more disposable income.
