The History of Recipes
We can follow the history of written recipes back into the far past, in fact as far back as the Egyptians, and possibly even further than that. Interesting though that is, these, old cook books were just primitive pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for preparing food.
Later, we have some interesting books from the 14th Century ; a book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, these are not about the indian food that is served today, but rather accounts of the types of meals on the menus of the upper classes of those days. By the time we get to the 20th century, cooking publications are greatly in demand due to better eduction, people having more free time and a general increase in wealth. |
