The History of Recipes
It is quite feasible to follow the history of recipes back into the far past, at least as far back into recorded history as ancient Egypt, and maybe further still. Interesting though that is, generally, these early recipes were just very basic pictorial recipes for preparing meals.
Moving on, we have a couple of interesting books which appeared in the 14th Century : a cookery book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, these two books are unconnected to the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but instead recipes for the types of food on the menues of the rich and wealthy people of that time. By the time we get to the twentieth century, cooking publications are in great demand, mostly as a result of better eduction, more leisure time and having more money to spend. |
