2 tbsp unsalted butter
8 slightly underripe bananas
3 juice of limes
3 tbsp light brown sugar
Directions
This recipe calls for slightly underripe bananas because, as they
cook, they'll soften up quite a bit. Lime juice keeps the bananas from
discoloring, so they are easily made ahead through step 3. The sweet
and tangy combination is just right served after your jazzy meal.
1. Preheat oven to 375'F.
2. Butter a shallow baking dish; reserve remaining butter.
3. Peel and layer bananas in the buttered dish and drizzle with lime
juice.
4. Sprinkle with sugar and dot bananas with remaining butter. Bake
for 30 minutes, basting once or twice with sauce. Remove bananas from
dish carefully with a long spatula. Serve hot, with sauce spooned on
top.

The History of Recipes
It is quite possible to trace the history of recipes far back into distant history, in fact as far back as the Egyptians, and possibly even further than that. However, sadly, these ancient records were just very basic hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for meal preparation.
Closer to modern times, we find some interesting books from the 14th Century ; one book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these books have no connection with the indian curry that appears on menues today, but rather accounts of the types of food enjoyed by the rich people of the period. By the arrival of the 1900s, cookbooks are greatly in demand due to better eduction, more free time and having more money. |
