The History of Recipes
Recipes as a concept can be traced far back into history, certainly as far back into history as pharonic Egypt, and maybe even further. Interesting though that is, in the main part, these early cook books were just very basic pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
Continuing our culinary historical journey, we find a couple of recipe books which were published in the 1300s ; a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these two books are nothing to do with the indian food that is served today, but instead accounts of the types of meals prepared for the rich and powerful of that time. Later on, in the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought back a variety of foods and spices from the holy lands, including spices such as parsley and basil. These new foods and spices led to an explosion in books on cooking, the majority of which still exist in private collections. The introduction of the TV gave us celebrity TV chefs and the recipe books that accompanied them. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing everybody to access thousands of recipes just like those on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Banana Split Bread Abm Kooknet recipe.
