2 1/2 cup flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp nutmeg

2 egg
1/2 cup honey
1 banana
2 tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp vanilla

Sift together dry ingredients. Beat eggs until light. Add honey
gradually and continue beating until well mixed. Beat in mashed
banana, butter, sour cream and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture. (Dough

cutting off every 2 inches.

The History of Recipes
It is possible to read the history of written recipes far back into the far past, certainly as far back into history as the ancient Egyptians, and maybe further still. In practice though, sadly, these old records were just very simple hieroglyphic recipes for preparing meals.
Later on, in The time of the roman empire 25BC a roman called Apicius created a number of documents detailing recipes enjoyed by wealthy roman citizens. In his publication, Apicius describes how the roman meals were separated into appetizers, main meal and afters, something we still use today. This early Roman chef informs us how the early Romans used many herbs and spices, including a few you will know for example basil, mint and dill. During the following few hundred years, the families of Europe competed to serve the most exotic meals, and consequentially the best cooks and their recipes were greatly in demand. Notwithstanding that, it was during the 19th century that cooking and recipe books became really popular. Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and the equally well-known Fannie Merritt Farmer in the USA, dedicated their lives to collating, verifying, and publishing the recipes of their peers. The arrival of television gave us TV cooks and the recipe books that accompanied them. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of the internet, permitting everybody to search through thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on our web site. |
We hope you enjoy this Banana Velvet Doughnuts recipe.
