1 cup chopped nuts
2 1/2 cup sugar
5 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
3 bananas, mashed
1 tsp lemon juice
1 can crushed pineapple, drained
Directions
Mix together dry ingredients. Mix together liquid ingredients;
combine. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

The History of Recipes
Experts have proved the existence of recipes far back into the far past, in truth as far back into history as early Egypt, and possibly even further. Having said that, mostly, these old recipes were just simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for preparing food.
During Roman times 25BC a man called Apicius compiled a few scripts describing recipes prepared by wealthy roman citizens. In his works, Apicius tells us how the roman meals were divided into hors d`oeuvre, entrees and desserts, something that is very familiar to us today. Aspicius also recounts how the cooks of Roman times used a good variety of spices and herbs, including a few that will be familiar to modern chefs such as bay, mint and dill. During the succeeding few centuries, the wealthy families of Wesstern Europe competed with each other to offer the most extravagent meals, and consequentially cooks and their recipes were highly sought after. Even so, it wasn`t until the 1800s that cookery and recipe publications rose to prominence. Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and Fannie Farmer in the US, devoted their lives to collecting, testing, and publishing the recipes that were being prepared for the better households. By the time we get to the twentieth century, recipe publications are in great demand, mostly as a result of better eduction, people having more free time and being a little richer. |
