12 tbsp butter
1 cup sugar, brown
1 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup sesame seeds
Directions
Preheat oven to 325. Cream butter until soft, then gradually beat in
sugar and egg until mixture is fluffy. Combine flour and baking
powder; stir into butter mixture. Add vanilla and sesame seeds and
mix well. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets,
about 1-1/2" apart. Bake 12-15 minutes, until cookies are light brown.
Let cookies rest a minute, then remove immediately from baking sheet.
If cookies harden before removal, return to oven for a minute to
soften.
"These cookies can be frozen, or will keep well in tightly-covered
container."

The History of Recipes
Experts have proved the existance of recipes far back into the far past, at least as far back into recorded history as the Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that maybe, mostly, these old recipes were just basic hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves on a few more years we find a couple of interesting books from the fourteenth century ; a book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary called `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these are nothing to do with the indian curry that is familiar to us all today, but instead recipes for the types of food cooked for the nobility of that period. By the arrival of the 20th century, cookbooks were in high demand, due to increased literacy, people having increased leisure time and a general increase in wealth. |
