The History of Recipes
Historians have proved the existance of recipes far back into the far past, at least as far as the Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. Having said that, these, early recipes were just primitive hieroglyphic recipes for food preparation.
Moving our culinary historical trip onwards, we find a couple of recipe books published in the 1300s - a book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary named `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, they are nothing to do with the curry that is served today, but rather recipes for the types of meals prepared for the nobility of those days. When we get to the 1900s, cookbooks are greatly in demand mostly as a result of more people being able to read, more leisure time and having more money. |
