The History of Recipes
It is actually possible to trace the history of written recipes far back into history, certainly as far back into history as the early Egyptians, and maybe even further. Having said that, mostly, these early cook books were just simple pictorial recipes for preparing food.
Moving on, we find a couple of recipe books dating from the 1300s ; a cookery book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these are not about the indian food that appears on menues today, but rather accounts of the types of meals on the menues of the rich people of the period. Later, in the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought back a variety of foods, spices and herbs from the holy land, including spices such as rosemary and coriander. The introduction of these new foods and spices prompted an increase in recipe publications, some of which are now in private cookery archives. The revolution that is television gave us TV cooks and the spin-off recipe books. Which pretty much brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing everybody to search through massive numbers of recipes just like those on our web site. |
We hope you enjoy this Bubble Bread recipe.
