Butter Icing Recipe

Ingredients

3 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
1/3 cup butter or margarune, softend

VARIATIONS


STANDARD

3 tbsp cream
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

ORANGE

3 tbsp orangejuice
1 1/2 tbsp orange rind, grated

MOCHA

3 tbsp fresh strong coffe

PINEAPPLE

1/2 cup crushed pineapple, drained


Directions

Blend confectioners' sugar and butter. Stir in until smooth one of the
variations.

Notwithstanding that, it wasn`t until the 19th century that cookery and recipe books became popular. Mrs Beeton in the UK, and the equally famous Fannie Farmer in the USA, devoted much of their lives to collecting, verifying, and writing down recipes to allow everyone to enjoy them.

By the time we get to the 20th century, recipe publications are in great demand, due to more people being able to read, more spare time and having more money to spend.
