The History of Recipes
Academics have traced the existence of recipes far back into antiquity, in fact as far into history as ancient Egypt, and potentially, even further back. In practice though, these, old recipes were just very simple pictorial instructions for preparing food.
As our culinary historical trip moves to more modern times we find some books which appeared in the fourteenth century ; a cookery book called `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, they are unconnected to the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but instead accounts of the types of meals prepared by the chefs of the wealthy. By the arrival of the twentieth century, cook books are greatly in demand mostly as a result of better eduction, people having increased spare time and having more disposable income. |
