The History of Recipes
Experts have proved the existance of recipes far back into the far past, certainly as far back into history as ancient Egypt, and possibly even further than that. Interesting though that maybe, in the main part, these old records were just primitive pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for preparing food.
As our culinary historical trip moves on a few more years we find a couple of recipe books which appeared in the 14th Century : one book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these two books are unconnected to the indian food that is popular today, but instead accounts of the types of meals prepared by the cooks of the rich and wealthy people of that time. By the arrival of the 20th century, cookbooks are highly popular mostly as a result of better eduction, people having more free time and having more money. |
