The History of Recipes
We can follow the history of `recipes` far back into distant history, in truth as far back into recorded history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and maybe further still. Interesting though that is, sadly, these ancient recipes were just very basic pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for food preparation.
Later on, we find a couple of interesting cookery books published in the 14th Century - a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these two books are unconnected to the curry that appears on menues today, but rather descriptions of the types of meals prepared for the upper classes of the time. Later on in the 1400s, people returning from the crusades brought back many new foods and spices from Arab countries, including coriander, basil and rosemary. These new foods and tastes created a torrent in manuscripts on cooking, some of which are now in academic collections. The introduction of the TV gave us celebrity chefs and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. Which pretty much brings us up to date and the internet revolution, allowing everybody to search through thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on sites such as this. |
We hope you enjoy this Lf Choc. Pie Filling recipe.
