The History of Recipes
It is possible to trace the history of meal recipes back into history, at least as far into history as the ancient Egyptians, and maybe further still. Interesting though that is, in the main part, these ancient records were just very basic hieroglyphic recipes for preparing meals.
Later, there are some recipe books dating from the 14th Century ; one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary named `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these are nothing to do with the indian curry that is served today, but instead accounts of the types of food served to the rich and powerful. By the time we get to the 1900s, cooking books were in great demand, mostly due to better eduction, people having more leisure time and having more money. |
