2 lb choice roast beef, cubed
1 cup flour
3/4 tbsp garlic powder
1 cup water with soup base
Directions
CUBE MEAT INTO 1/2 INCH CUBES. MIX ALL INGREDIENTS IN ROASTER PAN AND
COOK, UNCOVERED FOR 1 1/2 HOURS OR UNTIL TENDER.

The History of Recipes
Written cooking instructions as a concept can be tracked back into the far past, in fact as far back into recorded history as the ancient Egyptians, and possibly even further. In practice though, mostly, these early cookbooks were just very basic pictorial recipes for meal preparation.
Later on, there were a couple of interesting books dating from the 1300s ; a cookery book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these two books are unconnected to the curry that we all know today, but rather accounts of the types of meals prepared for the nobility of the period. By the advent of the twentieth century, cookery publications were in great demand, due to better eduction, more spare time and having more disposable income. |
