The History of Recipes
It is possible to track the history of meal recipes way back into the distant past, in fact as far into history as ancient Egypt, and possibly even further. Having said that, sadly, these early recipes were just basic hieroglyphic instructions for food preparation.
Closer to modern times, we find a couple of interesting recipe books from the fourteenth century ; a recipe book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Perhaps surprisingly, these two books have no connection with the indian curry that is served today, but instead recipes for the types of food served to the rich people of that period. In the fifteenth century, people returning from the crusades brought back many foods, spices and herbs from the Middle-East, including spices like parsley and basil. These new foods and spices led to an outbreak in recipe books, the majority of which are kept safe in private collections. Like it or not, the introduction of television gave us cooking programs and the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting us all to access massive numbers of recipes just like those on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Banana Bonanza Ice Cream _ recipe.
