The History of Recipes
We can trace the history of `recipes` back into history, at least as far back as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and maybe further still. Interesting though that is, mostly, these early records were just primitive hieroglyphic recipes for preparing food.
Later on, there are two recipe books published in the 14th Century : one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these are nothing to do with the indian food that is served today, but rather accounts of the types of meals enjoyed by the rich and powerful of the time. Later on in the 1400s, the Crusaders brought back many foods and spices from middle-east cuisine, including coriander, parsley, basil and rosemary. These new foods and tastes caused an outbreak in recipe manuscripts, some of which still exist in private cookery archives. The introduction of the TV brought us TV cookery programs and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing us all to access thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on sites such as the one you are reading now. |
We hope you enjoy this Barbecue Halibut Oriental recipe.
