The History of Recipes
It is quite feasible to follow the history of recipes back into history, certainly as far back into recorded history as pharonic Egypt, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that is, mostly, these early cook books were just very simple hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
Moving on, there are a couple of recipe books which were published in the fourteenth century : one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these are unconnected to the indian food that appears on menues today, but instead descriptions of the types of food cooked for the rich people of the time. By the time we get to the twentieth century, recipe publications are highly popular as a result of more people being able to read, people having increased leisure time and being a little richer. |
