The History of Recipes
It is actually possible to track the history of recipes way back into ancient history, in truth as far back into history as early Egypt, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that maybe, these, ancient cookbooks were just very basic hieroglyphic instructions for food preparation.
Moving on, we have a couple of interesting cookery books which appeared in the fourteenth century ; a book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, they are nothing to do with the spicy food that is familiar to us all today, but rather descriptions of the types of meals cooked for the rich and wealthy people of the time. Later, in the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought us many new foods and herbs from middle-east cuisine, including rosemary and coriander. The introduction of these new herbs and spices led to an outbreak in manuscripts on cookery, many of which still exist in private collections. The revolution that is television brought us celebrity chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting us all to access thousands of recipes just like those on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Low Fat Taco Dip recipe.
