The History of Recipes
We are able to trace the history of `recipes` way back into antiquity, in truth as far back as early Egypt, and maybe further still. In practice though, mostly, these ancient cookbooks were just simple hieroglyphic instructions for preparing meals.
Moving our culinary historical trip onwards, there were some recipe books which were published in the 1300s - a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, these are not about the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but rather descriptions of the types of food cooked for the rich and powerful of that period. In the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought us many foods and spices from the holy land, including spices such as coriander, parsley, and basil. The introduction of these new culinary ideas caused an increase in publications on food, most of which still exist in academic collections. The arrival of TV brings us TV cookery programs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which pretty much brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, permitting everybody to search through massive numbers of recipes like those on our site. |
We hope you enjoy this Melting Butter In Microwave recipe.
