The History of Recipes
Experts have tracked the existence of recipes way back into distant history, certainly as far into history as early Egypt, and potentially, even further back. However, sadly, these old records were just very basic hieroglyphic recipes for food preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves to more modern times there were a couple of interesting recipe books which appeared in the fourteenth century ; one book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these books have no connection with the indian food that we all know today, but rather recipes for the types of meals prepared by the cooks of the rich and powerful of that time. In the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought back many foods and herbs from Arab countries, including spices like parsley and basil. These new herbs and spices created an outbreak in recipe publications, most of which still exist in private collections. The introduction of television brings us cooking programs and the recipe books that accompanied them. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing us all to search through massive numbers of recipes such as those found on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Meringues In The Microwave recipe.
