The History of Recipes
We can follow the history of meal recipes way back into ancient history, certainly as far back into history as ancient Egypt, and maybe further still. However, mostly, these early records were just very simple pictorial instructions for meal preparation.
Later, we find some recipe books from the fourteenth century - a book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary named `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these two books have no connection with the curry that is popular today, but rather descriptions of the types of meals on the menues of the rich people of the time. By the time we get to the 20th century, cook books were in great demand, due to higher levels of literacy, people having increased free time and a general increase in wealth. |
We hope you enjoy this Paella Valenciana recipe.
