The History of Recipes
We can track the history of meal recipes back into the far past, in fact as far back as ancient Egypt, and maybe further still. Interesting though that maybe, sadly, these early cookbooks were just very basic pictorial recipes for food preparation.
Progressing into The time of the roman empire 25BC a man called Apicius created a number of documents showing how to cook the recipes cooked by the Romans. In his works, Apicius recounts how the roman meals were separated into hors d`oeuvre, main course and dessert, a style of dining still practiced today. Aspicius informs us how the ancient Romans used a good variety of herbs and spices, including a few that will be familiar to modern chefs such as bay, mint and dill. For the centuries that followed, the rich families of Wesstern Europe strove to offer the most exotic meals, and as a consequence, the best cooks and their collection of recipes became highly prized. Even so, it wasn`t until the nineteenth century that haute cuisine and recipe collections really came of age. The Famous Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and the equally well-known Fannie Farmer in the USA, devoted their lives to collecting, verifying, and publishing recipes for their fellow cooks to enjoy. By the time we get to the 20th century, cooking publications are greatly in demand mostly due to more people being able to read, more leisure time and disposable income. |
We hope you enjoy this Ananas Mit Grenadine recipe.
