1 cup cold milk
8 oz strawberry yogurt
2 bananas
1 tbsp lemon juice
Directions
* Use a blender or food processor for this recipe.
Put all ingredients in blender and turn to puree mode until of desired

The History of Recipes
We are able to follow the history of `recipes` far back into history, at least as far into history as the early Egyptians, and possibly even further than that. Having said that, mostly, these ancient cookbooks were just primitive hieroglyphic recipes for preparing food.
The truth of the matter is, the oldest recipe found, according to experts are some stone tablets in Sumerian which describe the preparation of bread which is then used to make a drink, quite possibly a form of beer as it is recorded as having made drinkers feel `exhilarated, wonderful and blissful`. Later on, in The time of the roman empire around 25BC a roman called Apicius wrote a few documents detailing recipes cooked by his fellow Romans. In his scrolls, Apicius tells us how the meals of wealthy Romans were separated into starters, main course and desserts, a style of dining still practiced today. Aspicius also describes how the early Romans used many different herbs and spices, including a few that will be familiar to modern chefs such as basil, mint and parsley. As we move on, we find some recipe books dating from the 14th Century ; a recipe book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, they are not about the indian curry that is popular today, but rather descriptions of the types of food served to the nobility of those days. Later, in the fifteenth century, people returning from the crusades brought back many foods, spices and herbs from the Middle-East, such as parsley and basil. The introduction of these new foods and spices was responsible for an increase in books on cookery, many of which still exist in academic collections. During the following few hundred years, the powerful and wealthy competed to offer the most exotic banquets, and as a result cooks and their recipe collections became highly prized. Notwithstanding that, it was during the nineteenth century that cookery and recipe collections became really popular. Mrs Beeton in the UK, and the equally well-known Fannie Merritt Farmer in the USA, dedicated their lives to collating, verifying, and publishing the recipes that were being prepared for the better households. By the advent of the 20th century, cook books were in great demand, due to increased literacy, people having more free time and disposable income. |
