The History of Recipes
It is possible to read the history of written recipes far back into the distant past, in fact as far back into history as the ancient Egyptians, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that is, in the main part, these early cook books were just very simple pictorial instructions for preparing food.
Later, there were some books which date from the fourteenth century ; one book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, they are unconnected to the indian curry that we all know today, but instead descriptions of the types of food eaten by the upper classes of that period. Later, in the fifteenth century, people returning from the crusades brought us a variety of spices and herbs from Arab countries, including spices like rosemary and coriander. These new foods and tastes was responsible for a torrent in books on cooking, most of which are now in academic collections. The arrival of television gave us TV chefs and the recipe books that accompanied them. Which pretty much brings us up to date and the invention of the internet, allowing us all to search through massive numbers of recipes such as those found on sites such as the one you are reading now. |
We hope you enjoy this Buttermilk Fudge Ice Cream recipe.
