1 can campbell's cream of chicken & brocc, oli soup (10 3/4 o
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/8 tsp pepper
3 cup cooked medium egg noodles (about 3, cups dry)
2 cup cubed cooked chicken*
Directions
Prep Time: 20 minutes. Cook Time: 10 minutes.
In 3-quart saucepan, combine soup, milk, cheese and pepper; add
noodles and chicken. Over low heat, heat through, stirring
occasionally. Garnish with parsley if desired. Serves 4.
* If desired, substitute 2 cans (5 oz EACH) Swanson Premium Chunk

The History of Recipes
Written recipes as a concept can be traced back into the far past, at least as far back into recorded history as pharonic Egypt, and maybe even further. Interesting though that is, these, early recipes were just very simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for food preparation.
Much later, in Roman times a man called Apicius created a few documents describing recipes prepared by his fellow Romans. In his scrolls, Apicius recounts how the meals of wealthy Romans were split into appetizers, main meal and dessert, a style of dining still practiced today. Aspicius informs us how the ancient chefs were skilled in the use of many different spices and herbs, including a few you will know for example basil, fennel and asafoetida. Over the succeeding few hundred years, the rich families of Wesstern Europe competed with each other to serve up the most extravagent meals, and as a consequence, chefs and their collection of recipes were much in demand. However, it was during the 19th century that haute cuisine and recipe collections reached a high level of popularity. The Famous Mrs Beeton in the UK, and the equally famous Fannie Merritt Farmer in the USA, spent years to collating, testing, and writing down the recipes of their peers. The TV revolution brings us TV cookery programs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, permitting us all to access massive numbers of recipes like those on this site. |
