The History of Recipes
It is possible to track the history of written recipes far back into history, in fact as far back as the Egyptians, and possibly even further than that. Interesting though that maybe, generally, these early recipes were just very basic pictorial recipes for preparing meals.
As we move into The time of the romans 25BC a man called Apicius compiled some scripts detailing recipes prepared by his fellow Romans. In his publication, he recounts how the roman meals were divided into hors d`oeuvre, main meal and afters, a style of dining still practiced today. Aspicius informs us how the Roman chefs used many spices and herbs, including some that we all recognise such as basil, rue and dill. Later, in the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought us a variety of foods and herbs from Arab cuisine, including spices like basil and coriander. These new spices and herbs caused an explosion in manuscripts on food, many of which still exist in private cookery archives. Like it or not, the introduction of TV brought us TV cooks and the recipe books that accompanied them. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing us all to access thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on this recipe site. |
We hope you enjoy this Chicken Wings recipe.
