The History of Recipes
We can trace the history of meal recipes back into history, in fact as far into history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that is, generally, these early cookbooks were just simple pictorial instructions for preparing meals.
Later on, there are some interesting books published in the fourteenth century - a book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, these two books are unconnected to the spicy food that is familiar to us all today, but instead descriptions of the types of meals on the menus of the rich people of the time. By the advent of the twentieth century, recipe publications are greatly in demand as a result of better eduction, people having increased free time and a general increase in wealth. |
