3/4 cup margarine or butter
1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds
Directions
Melt chocolate bars over hot water; cool. Blend in margarine and stir
in almonds.

The History of Recipes
Experts have traced the existance of recipes back into the distant past, certainly as far as the early Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. Having said that, in the main part, these old records were just very simple pictorial recipes for food preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves to more modern times there are two books from the 14th Century ; a recipe book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these two books are nothing to do with the indian food that we all know today, but rather recipes for the types of meals on the menues of the rich people of the time. In the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought us many new foods, spices and herbs from the Middle-East, including rosemary and coriander. The introduction of these new foods and spices led to an outbreak in recipe publications, the majority of which still exist in private collections. The introduction of television brought us celebrity TV chefs and the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing everyone to access massive numbers of recipes just like those on this site. |
