The History of Recipes
Recipes as an idea can be found way back into ancient history, in fact as far into history as the ancient Egyptians, and maybe further still. Having said that, in the main part, these early recipes were just very basic pictorial instructions for preparing food.
Moving our culinary historical trip onwards, we have some interesting books which date from the 14th Century - one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary called `Curye on Inglish`. Perhaps surprisingly, these two books are nothing to do with the indian food that we all know today, but rather descriptions of the types of food prepared by the chefs of the rich people of that period. Later on, in the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought us a variety of spices and herbs from Arab cooking, including coriander, parsley, and basil. These new foods and spices led to an outbreak in recipe manuscripts, most of which still exist in academic collections. The arrival of TV brought us TV chefs and the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing everybody to access thousands of recipes like those on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate Krispy Drops recipe.
