The History of Recipes
Historians have traced the existance of recipes back into the distant past, at least as far as the Egyptians, and possibly even further. Having said that, mostly, these early recipes were just very basic pictorial recipes for preparing food.
As our culinary historical trip moves on a few more years there are two interesting books from the 1300s ; a recipe book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these have no connection with the curry that is popular today, but rather recipes for the types of meals on the menues of the nobility of the period. In the fifteenth century, the Crusaders brought back many foods, spices and herbs from Arab cooking, such as rosemary and coriander. The introduction of these new foods and spices caused an outbreak in manuscripts on food, many of which are now in private collections. Like it or not, the introduction of television brought us cooking programs and the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of the internet, permitting everybody to search through massive numbers of recipes like those on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate No Bake Cookies recipe.
