The History of Recipes
It is possible to trace the history of meal recipes far back into distant history, in truth as far into history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and potentially, even further back. Having said that, mostly, these ancient recipes were just primitive pictorial recipes for food preparation.
Later, we find two interesting recipe books published in the fourteenth century - a recipe book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these books have no connection with the indian food that is popular today, but rather descriptions of the types of food prepared by the chefs of the rich people of that period. By the time we get to the 1900s, cookbooks are starting to become popular as a result of increased literacy, people having increased leisure time and disposable income. |
