The History of Recipes
We are able to read the history of meal recipes back into the distant past, at least as far back as pharonic Egypt, and possibly even further. Having said that, mostly, these early recipes were just very simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for meal preparation.
As we move on, there are two recipe books which were published in the 1300s - one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, they are nothing to do with the spicy food that is popular today, but rather recipes for the types of meals served to the nobility of that period. Later, in the fifteenth century, the Crusaders brought back many foods and herbs from Arab cuisine, such as coriander, basil and rosemary. The introduction of these new foods and spices led to a surge in manuscripts on cookery, many of which are now in private libraries. The revolution that is television brought us TV cookery programs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting everybody to search through thousands of recipes such as those found on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Cookie_ Crispie Treats (No Bake) recipe.
