Ingredients

4 cup corn meal
2 tsp salt
8 cup water
2 eggs, well beaten
4 tbsp butter


Directions

Add corn meal and salt to water in pot. Bring to boil and cook over
medium heat until thick, 5-10 minutes. Add eggs and butter. Stir well.

For the decades that followed, the wealthy families of the West competed to offer the best banquets, and as a result the best chefs and their recipes were at a premium. Nevertheless, it wasn`t until the nineteenth century that cooking and recipe collections became really popular. Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and the equally well-known Fannie Farmer in the US, dedicated years of their lives to collating, trying out, and writing down recipes to allow everyone to enjoy them.

By the time we get to the 1900s, cooking books were in great demand, due to increased literacy, people having increased leisure time and having more disposable income.

The arrival of television brought us TV cookery programs and the spin-off recipe books.
