1 tbsp yeast
2 tbsp vegetable oil lukewarm water
3 1/2 cup bread mix
1 egg, beaten

VARIATIONS

1 -add
1 package dry onion soup mix makes great hamb, urger buns or
4 tbsp brown sugar, and
2/3 cup wheat germ

Even so, it was during the 1800s that cooking and recipe books really came of age. The Famous Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and the equally famous Fannie Farmer in the USA, devoted their lives to collecting, verifying, and publishing the recipes of their peers.

By the advent of the 20th century, cook books were increasing in popularity mostly as a result of higher levels of literacy, people having more spare time and disposable income.
