Ingredients
2 tsp dry yeast
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp poppy seeds
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tsp salt
2 cup whole wheat flour
3 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey
1 cup warm water
Directions
This will make a 1 1/2 lb loaf. Use the whole wheat setting on your
machine. We love this bread, but I'm not a big fan of all whole
wheat, so I usually use 1 1/2 cups of BREAD flour and just 1/2 cup
Whole wheat.
Servings: 1 loaf

The History of Recipes
We are able to follow the history of written recipes back into history, in truth as far back as the early Egyptians, and quite possibly further than that. Having said that, mostly, these ancient recipes were just very basic hieroglyphic recipes for preparing meals.
Later on, in The time of the roman empire around 25BC a man called Apicius compiled a few documents which described recipes cooked by wealthy roman citizens. In his publication, he recounts how the meals of wealthy Romans were separated into starters, main course and afters, known in latin as `Gustatio, Primae Mensae and Secundae Mensae`. Aspicius recounts how the early Romans were skilled in the use of a good variety of herbs and spices, including a few you will know like bay, mint and dill. Later, in the fifteenth century, the Crusaders brought back many new foods, spices and herbs from the East, including spices like coriander, parsley, basil and rosemary. The introduction of these new foods and spices was responsible for a torrent in manuscripts on cooking, the majority of which still exist in private libraries. The arrival of television brought us celebrity TV chefs and the spin-off recipe books. And that brings us to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting everybody to access massive numbers of recipes such as those found on our web site. |
