The History of Recipes
Experts have tracked the existance of recipes way back into distant history, at least as far back into recorded history as pharonic Egypt, and potentially, even further back. However, sadly, these early records were just primitive pictorial instructions for preparing meals.
As our culinary historical trip moves to more modern times we have a couple of cookery books which were published in the fourteenth century ; a recipe book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these two books have no connection with the spicy food that we all know today, but rather descriptions of the types of food prepared by the cooks of the rich and powerful of those days. In the 15th century, knights returning from the crusades brought us a variety of foods and spices from Arab cooking, including spices like parsley and basil. These new spices and herbs led to an outbreak in manuscripts on cookery, the majority of which still exist in academic collections. The introduction of television brought us TV cooks and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. And that neatly brings us to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting everybody to access massive numbers of recipes like the ones you can find on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this 7 Layer Taco Dip recipe.
