All-Purpose Chili Sauce Recipe


Ingredients

1 lb red chili peppers, washed & - dried
2 cup rice vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup salt
1/3 cup sake
1 cup garlic cloves, peeled


Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor & blend until a
thick paste is formed.

Use to add some pizzazz to stir-fries.

The History of Recipes

It is possible to follow the history of meal recipes back into the distant past, certainly as far back into recorded history as the Egyptians, and possibly even further. Later, there are a couple of recipe books from the 1300s : one book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are a little misleading though, these are nothing to do with the indian curry that appears on menues today, but rather recipes for the types of food on the menues of the wealthy.

For the decades that followed, the powerful families of Wesstern Europe competed to serve the best banquets, and consequentially chefs and their collection of recipes were highly sought after. Notwithstanding that, it wasn`t until the 1800s that cookery and recipe publications really came of age. Mrs Beeton in the UK, and the equally famous Fannie Farmer in the USA, devoted their lives to collecting, verifying, and writing down recipes to allow everyone to enjoy them.

The arrival of television brought us TV cooks and the spin-off recipe books.

Which brings us neatly to the present day and the internet revolution, allowing us all to access thousands of recipes such as those found on our web site.
