The History of Recipes
We are able to follow the history of `recipes` way back into distant history, in truth as far into history as early Egypt, and maybe further still. In practice though, sadly, these old records were just simple hieroglyphic recipes for preparing food.
As we move on, there were two interesting recipe books which were published in the 14th Century ; one book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary called `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are a little misleading though, these books are unconnected to the spicy food that we all know today, but rather accounts of the types of food cooked for the rich and powerful of that period. Later, in the fifteenth century, knights returning from the crusades brought back many new foods and herbs from the East, including rosemary and coriander. These new culinary innovations caused an eruption in cookery books, the majority of which still exist in private cookery archives. The revolution that is television brings us celebrity TV chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. And that neatly brings us to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting us all to access massive numbers of recipes like the ones you can find on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Almond Crisps recipe.
