The History of Recipes
Food historians have found proof that recipes existed way back into distant history, in truth as far into history as pharonic Egypt, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that maybe, sadly, these early cookbooks were just primitive hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves on a few more years there were two interesting recipe books which were published in the fourteenth century - a cookery book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these two books are nothing to do with the spicy food that we all know today, but rather recipes for the types of meals prepared by the cooks of the nobility of that period. By the arrival of the 1900s, cookery publications were starting to become popular as a result of better eduction, people having increased spare time and having more disposable income. |
