The History of Recipes
Food historians have traced the existance of recipes far back into history, in fact as far into history as early Egypt, and maybe even further. However, generally, these early recipes were just very basic hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves on a few more years we find some books which were published in the 1300s : a book called `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these two books are nothing to do with the spicy food that is popular today, but rather accounts of the types of meals on the tables of the upper classes of the period. In the fifteenth century, people returning from the crusades brought back a variety of foods and herbs from the East, including spices such as parsley, basil and rosemary. These new foods and spices led to a surge in manuscripts on cookery, many of which are now in private cookery archives. Like it or not, the introduction of television gave us TV chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing everyone to access thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on our web site. |
We hope you enjoy this Banana Mocha Ice Cream _ recipe.
