Ingredients

3 lb beef rump roast
3 tbsp flour
15 oz tomato sauce
1/2 cup onions-chopped
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp beef instant bouillon
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 cl garlic, chopped fine
1 tsp dry mustard
1 hamburger buns


Directions

Rub flour into roast. Place in bottom of crockpot and add remaining
ingredients, except buns. Cook on low for about 14-16 hours. Serve
over buns.

Continuing our culinary historical journey, we find two interesting recipe books dating from the fourteenth century ; one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, they have no connection with the spicy food that is popular today, but rather recipes for the types of meals prepared by the chefs of the nobility of the period.

Later on, in the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought back many new spices and herbs from Arab countries, including spices like rosemary and coriander. These new spices and herbs caused an eruption in manuscripts on cookery, some of which still exist in academic collections.

By the advent of the 20th century, recipe books are starting to become popular mostly as a result of more people being able to read, more free time and a general increase in wealth.
