The History of Recipes
Transcribed cooking instructions as an idea can be observed far back into distant history, certainly as far into history as the Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. However, these, old recipes were just simple hieroglyphic recipes for preparing food.
Moving our culinary historical trip onwards, we find a couple of interesting recipe books from the fourteenth century - a recipe book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Perhaps surprisingly, these books are unconnected to the spicy food that is familiar to us all today, but rather accounts of the types of food on the tables of the upper classes of that period. In the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought back many foods, spices and herbs from the Middle-East, including spices like coriander, basil and rosemary. The introduction of these new foods and spices caused a torrent in manuscripts on cookery, many of which still exist in private cookery archives. The arrival of TV gave us cooking programs and the spin-off recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting everyone to search through thousands of recipes such as those found on the site you are now reading. |
We hope you enjoy this Kfc Buttermilk Biscuits recipe.
