The History of Recipes
We are able to follow the history of `recipes` way back into distant history, in fact as far into history as ancient Egypt, and maybe even further. Interesting though that is, mostly, these early cookbooks were just very simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for food preparation.
As we move on, there were some books which date from the 1300s - a recipe book called `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary named `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these are not about the indian food that appears on menues today, but rather accounts of the types of food eaten by the rich and powerful of that period. By the advent of the 20th century, cookery publications were greatly in demand mostly due to better eduction, leisure time and disposable income. |
