The History of Recipes
Experts have traced the existance of recipes way back into the far past, in fact as far back into recorded history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and quite possibly further than that. Having said that, sadly, these ancient recipes were just simple pictorial recipes for preparing food.
Later on, there were two interesting recipe books which were published in the 14th Century ; a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these two books have no connection with the spicy food that appears on menues today, but instead descriptions of the types of food on the menues of the rich and powerful of those days. Later on in the 1400s, people returning from the crusades brought us many new foods and spices from Arab cooking, including parsley and basil. These new spices and herbs led to an outbreak in cookery books, some of which are kept safe in academic collections. The introduction of the TV gave us celebrity chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly up to date and the invention of the internet, allowing everybody to access thousands of recipes like the ones you can find on sites such as the one you are reading now. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate Chip Cookies (Mm) recipe.
