The History of Recipes
We are able to read the history of `recipes` far back into distant history, in truth as far as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that maybe, sadly, these ancient cook books were just very basic pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for food preparation.
As we move on, we find two interesting cookery books published in the fourteenth century - one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these are not about the indian food that is popular today, but rather accounts of the types of meals on the menus of the nobility of that time. By the advent of the 20th century, cook books were increasing in popularity as a result of increased literacy, people having increased free time and having more money. |
