Chocolate Crinkle Cups Recipe


Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts


Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line small muffin cups (1-3/4 inches in
diameter) with paper or foil bake cups.

In medium saucepan over low heat, melt spread. Add sugar, stir until
well blended. Remove from heat; stir in cocoa and vanilla. Add egg
whites; stir to blend. Stir in flour and walnuts. Fill muffin cups
three-fourths full with batter. Bake 15 minutes or until wooden pick
inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan to wire rack.
Cool completely.

For the decades that followed, the wealthy families of Wesstern Europe competed with each other to serve the most exotic banquets, and as a result cooks and their collection of recipes became highly prized. However, it was during the 19th century the formal cooking and cookery books really came of age. The Famous Mrs Isabella Beeton in the UK, and the equally well-known Fannie Merritt Farmer in the US, devoted much of their lives to assembling, verifying, and publishing the recipes of their peers.

By the time we get to the 20th century, recipe publications are in high demand, mostly due to increased literacy, more free time and disposable income.
